Ohio elects Yevans to clerkship as parties unite
In a Tuesday vote the factions ended their combiner and anti-combiner labels to elect Mrs. Yevans clerk of the Ohio Senate seat left vacant by Mrs. Latta’s resignation. John W. Doherty editor of the Fource Gazette died suddenly at Woodsfield. He was a respected Republican in the XV District. Daniel J. Ryan was sworn in as Secretary of State and vows to perform with notable vigor for Ohio.

Sunday School Convention Session At Nelsonville Ohio
The eleventh quarterly session of the Second District U S Convention met at Nelsonville First Baptist School with delegates from Chillicothe Portsmouth Circleville Athens and Buchtel. Resolutions supported Sunday school work and funds raised 26 35 while 40 scholars attended. The Nelsonville group earned a silk banner for best average report as James Qualls and his wife were praised for their sustained church work. Next meeting comes in May at Portsmouth.
