Remembering Middleport then and now in a town history
A reminiscence of Middleport and Pomeroy recalling old landmarks, streets, and industries. The piece notes the shift from stagecoaches and rail to modern utilities, the renaming of Sheffield to Middleport, and memories of docks, silver corner bands, mills, a roller rink, race track, boatyards, and notable figures like Schriner and R. R. Hudson. It invites locals to recall 19th and early 20th century life and acknowledges progress alongside nostalgia.
