Athens School District debates age versus neighborhood pupil placement
The Athens City School District committee proposes reorganizing students by age or by home area and considers closing or replacing buildings. The district currently serves about 2,800 students across seven facilities including East and West Side Elementary, Morrison, Connett Road complex, Athens Middle, and The Plains High School with the 1922 Plains High School administration in use.
