The Associated Press reports Ohio heads into a tight gas supply period as temperatures plunge. Officials warn civilian consumption must drop to prevent wartime plant shutdowns while the Weather Bureau predicts frigid weather will persist through Friday with near zero readings.

He celebrated his 85th birthday last June. A pontifical requiem high mass will be read Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Cathedral, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. He had influenza after Christmas and suffered heart attacks, declining after a morning Mass but dying later that day.
