The Super G supermarket on Route 50W, built by Bucy and Hill of Chillicothe, will open next week. Owner B A Munir, ex Ohio University faculty, says the store cost about 500000 including building equipment and inventory and covers 12000 square feet.
Munir, a resident of the Athens area, outlines plans for a new Am Pak Shopping Plaza next to Wonder Hills. The center will offer meats, groceries, produce, and dairy, employ about 15 at start, and be stocked by Scot Lad Co. from Columbus. more stores may follow as space allows.
HUDSON The federal excise tax rate for telephone service was lowered from 10 percent to 9 percent effective Jan 1 1973. This starts a 10 year plan reducing one percent annually until Jan 1 1982 when the tax is repealed. The phase out is part of the 1970 act.
The Athens County Ministerial Association led by Rev. Arthur Dahl promotes this Sunday as Church Day for Ohio University and Hocking Technical College students and faculty. A special invitation goes to all to attend the church of their choice.
Athens fire department squadmen assisted two women who were ill on Thursday. Margaret Thompson, 57, was taken from 169 North Lancaster Street to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital at 8 17 a.m. after a possible appendicitis attack. Joan Landis, 21, was taken from 111 Central Avenue to Hudson Health Center at 11 42 a.m. The Athens County Humane Society will meet at 7 30 p.m. Thursday in City Hall to elect officers.
