History of Old Home Dates to Ohio Purchase
Story and photograph recount the Parker brick homestead in Salem Township Meigs County. Descendants trace back to William Parker who joined the Ohio Company Purchase in 1800 and settled at Salem. The article notes family ties to Athens County pioneers, notable marriages, and the house’s brown glass panes as a distinctive feature. The property is nearby Rutland depot and last occupied by Dr. Frank Parker, now owned by his daughter Adeline Parker Browning of Athens.
