Wreck on the B. and O. S. brings multiple deaths near Chillicothe
A disastrous wreck Saturday night at Schooley's station eight miles east of Chillicothe on the Baltimore and Ohio Southwestern line killed three engineers and firemen, injured several others, and left many residents of Athens county in mourning. The collision involved extra freight No. 80 and passenger train 131, with swift rescue efforts by Conductor Hendershott and locals aided by a medical student from Noblesville. The death toll included Thomas Michaels, J H Cox, G Addis, H A Mathers, and Jesse King, with survivors and witnesses reporting a chaotic, blizzard tormented scene and long delays before help arrived.
