Jarring Arrives In Holy Land to Push Talks

U N envoy Gunnar V. Jarring arrived in Israel to press for faster Arab Israeli negotiations. Prime Minister Golda Meir and Foreign Minister Abba Eban listed three essential points: a unlimited cease fire, talks closer to the Middle East perhaps Cyprus, and foreign ministers representing Israel Egypt and Jordan. Egypt demand a troop withdrawal timetable and extension of the cease fire. Big Four pressure and Sadat open to observer teams or peacekeeping troops with conditions.

Montevideo police report British Ambassador Geoffrey Jackson was kidnapped by Tupamaros guerrillas.
