A Chillicothe man, Jimmy Bowers 25, is missing after a fire in Cottage M at the Gallipolis State Institute dormitory. Twenty four residents escaped as Gallipolis and GSI fire brigades battled flames hampered by low water pressure. Fire origin believed basement, cause under investigation by state fire marshal.

Police Find Bank Bombs in New York and Chicago

Fire drives evacuation at Indianapolis Hilton hotel
More than 200 guests evacuated as fire struck the 20th floor Beef Barrow dining area of the Hilton in downtown Indianapolis. Firefighters gained control about an hour after first reports. Ohio Senate approves 10 percent state employee pay hikes

Airliner Hijacked To Fly From San Francisco
A shotgun wielding man and a woman with a pistol and baby hijacked a PSA Boeing 727 commuter flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles. After refueling and releasing 138 passengers and one male steward in Los Angeles, the jet departed for Florida with nine PSA crew aboard.
