Dr. William W. Mattson seeks to ransom his kidnapped 10-year-old son Charles without police interference. Authorities halted active searches as the case nears a presumed conclusion and Dr. Mattson complies with communications from the kidnapper.
State highway officials issued a first draft of a 9 million dollar program to improve 60 roads, targeting early spring start. Projects listed include Athens U S Route 50, Gallia Route 8, Hocking Route 31, Morgan Route 227 with concrete and brick pavement and various mileages and costs awaiting U.S. Bureau of Public Roads approval.

Funeral Wednesday at two oclock at her brother’s home conducted by Rev Earl Cowen. Burial in Pleasanton Cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Harry Swadener both 79 were killed when their car stalled on railroad tracks and was struck by a Dayton and Western Traction streetcar as they returned from a funeral. The collision occurred late Monday at a Dayton crossing near their home.
