Early Morning Fire Destroys Barn Near University Terrace
A three story barn owned by E. J. Jones on University Terrace burned from a cellar whiskey bottle ignition shortly after midnight Saturday. The blaze gutted the structure, with losses around 1000 dollars and 700 dollars insured. A maid and her escort witnessed the fire as the alarm was raised, delaying the firefighters due to confusion over the ringing bells. Twenty tons of hay were ruined and a surrey wheel burned. hay had to be removed to prevent further spread.

In Police Court Wm McCoy appeared before Mayor Logan for keeping his saloon open on Sunday. City authorities are pursuing cases against violators of the Sunday liquor sale ban. McCoy was fined 40 dollars with costs totaling 43.90.

State educational bodies met in Columbus to establish the Allied Educational Association of Ohio with Columbus chosen as its permanent conven tion city. Arrest of New Year Revelers in Glouster Follows Calaboose Stop
A crowd of youths celebrated New Year’s arrival with loud disturbances. Marshal Frank Youcum corralled them to the calaboose and found a revolver on Walter Holiday of Congo. He paid $8.60 in fines and costs on the spot. The arrest occurred one minute after midnight January 1.

Leg Severed in Mine Car Coupling Accident
Fred Smith, a Palmer's mine No. 14 driver, was crushed between cars during coupling this morning in Gioaster. The motorist started the downhill cars before Smith could escape, tearing away the entire right calf. He was taken home for treatment. doctors expect limited use of the leg in the future.
