State To Dedicate Juvenile Receiving Center Next Week
Columbus Ohio. The new $505 049 state operated Juvenile Receiving Center will be dedicated next Thursday. It doubles the Bureau of Juvenile Research capacity which provides pre sentence investigation and diagnosis for juvenile courts. The bureau aids in determining rehabilitation plans. Since 1950 seven counties used the bureau experimentally and 40 900 cases were handled last year with a 1969 projected 50 percent rise in juvenile court cases. Of 79 youths in the program 29 were committed to state schools at Lancaster and Delaware, four to feeble minded institutions, two to mental hospitals, and others to treatment centers foster homes or families. Six were returned to armed services.
