Parkersburg captures Athens bank robber suspect Christine Martin

West Virginia US Marshals jailed 30 year old Christine Joy Martin of Davisville after she allegedly robbed People's Bank in Athens and Chase Bank on East State Street, then fled on foot. She was detained Friday night in Parkersburg while attempting to check into a south side hotel. Authorities say she also robbed a Morgantown United Bank earlier in December. Martin faces multiple agency investigations as she is held at North Central Regional Jail.

Success in 2016 Blackburn cites Vivitrol program and drug dealer convictions

Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn, in a late December interview, touts 2016 as a banner year. He highlights a Vivitrol program started Oct 2015 to treat opioid and alcohol addiction, its role in reducing jail costs, and ongoing prosecutions of drug dealers. The program grew from an initial target of 40 to many participants, supported by staff trainings and two new nurse practitioners. A major case was the 16 year prison term for Eric Miller tied to a heroin ring influencing Athens County.
