Schoonover Must Pay Damages After Impounded Braking Charge
William E Schoonover 18 of Chauncey pleaded guilty to improper brakes after his car rammed Sheltering Arms Hospital building fund office Sunday. Municipal Judge John Newcomb fined him 50 dollars plus costs, suspended 30 dollars if restitution is made within two months.

Rich Culligan named general manager at Culligan Athens
Rich Charles Rich of Radford Road has been named general manager of Culligan Water Conditioning Inc in Athens. President Walter R. Ervin announced the appointment. Rich will oversee sales and service for the Athens and Hocking County area after training. A Albany High School graduate and Marine Corps veteran, he and his wife Judy Radford have one daughter.

Hearing Set On Deposit For Beer
State liquor control commission to hold a public hearing January 19 on proposed changes lowering deposit charges on half cases of beer and malt liquor. Hearing sought to align half case deposits with full and fourth cases. Local permits affected include Jet Store carry-out and Charles Silverman’s Richland and Mulligan site, Gateway Lounge transfers, and Pizza Hut low powered beer sales. Ward 2 precincts 4 5 and 6 area voted dry for six percent beer wine and liquor while remaining wet for 3.2 percent beer.
