Induction of Officials Delayed in Middleport
Middleport village officials will not be sworn in until the first regular council meeting in January. Mayor Sidney T. Russell and re-elected officers, including clerk Charles Murray treasurer Jean Lama and councilmen Frankro man Horton Brown Wayne Gibbons David Jenkins Joe Young Jr and Walter Bunce, will hold over until then per council member and General Code provisions. The meeting is set for January 7.

Birth of Son to Mr and Mrs William Diles in Waterbury
Mr and Mrs L D Diles announce the birth of a son to their son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs William Diles in Waterbury Connecticut on New Year’s Day. The baby weighs 7 pounds and is named John Lisle after his grandfathers. The family includes Kathryn Lucille aged 13 months and five grandsons five granddaughters. Grandparents are the Diles of Beech Street and Mr and Mrs Woun Heaton of Scarsdale New York. Great grandfathers are J H Heaton of Denver Cole and Burt Bowman of Los Angeles. The Diles plan to move to Hartford where Mr Diles has been transferred.

One of the area's largest funerals was held Wednesday afternoon at Rawlings-Coats Funeral Home for Downing E. Roush longtime New York Central Railroad clerk who died Sunday of a heart attack. NYCRR shop men from Hobson attended along with Middleport and Dickinson W Va pallbearers. Also noted were out of town mourners and floral tributes from the Busy Bee Class of First Baptist Church. An administrator Garland Weaver was named for John W. Weaver’s estate in Meigs County Probate Court.
