Gas Well Spurs Activity In Meigs County
Gas from a seven inch McKelvey farm well at 5,000 feet sparked regional activity with plans for over a million dollars in new drilling. Crews install stronger pipe inside the casing, silence the leak, and route gas toward Sugar Grove storage via Ohio Fuel Gas Co. A promoter from Meigs County, John R. Murphy, sparks leasing nearby as Roy Profitt expects further drilling. If the discovery leads to more wells, Meigs County could see up to 60 new sites.
