Bernard Chandler 21 of Athens sustained head bruises minor cuts and possible base skull fracture when his car was sideswiped on East State Street near the Children's Home. He was taken to Sheltering Arms Hospital. His unnamed companion escaped injury.

In Cleveland on January 1 Joseph Schmidt dubbed county bootlegger cites liquor troubles as a headache. He paid a $2000 fine in Lakewood Police Court for his eighteenth offense, raising the total to $37000 for him and Mrs Joe as the clerk noted.
Joseph "Specs" Russell of Cleveland, serving 63 years for multiple crimes, has written several music articles from the Ohio Penitentiary under an assumed name and will publish another under his own name. He is described as an expert on the history of several musical instruments.
Hartsville Delaware candidate Frank A. Miller president of the South Carolina Bar Association and state senator was shot to death on his farm near Hartsville. Police believe the death was accidental.
The mother Mary Smerk 46 is dead and her three sons in custody will attend the funeral in Ohio Penitentiary and Mansfield Reformatory guards. After services they will be returned to prison to finish their sentences.
George Heilaman age 32 of Pittsburgh and Herman Dishram age 26 of Baltimore died from injuries after an air compressor explosion at Stewart during construction of a B and O Railroad water tank. Heilaman died at Shelter Armas Hospital after amputation and injuries. Dishram died en route to the hospital. Coroner Jones to rule accidental death. Widows Mrs Dorothy Heilaman and Mrs Alice Dishram notified.
A petition in error seeks reversal of the Common Pleas Court ruling in State of Ohio v Edward C McGaw. McGaw was found guilty in November of shooting to wound Rank Pileggi on April 20 while serving as an undercover agent for the State Prohibition Enforcement Department. He received a sentence of one to seven years in the penitentiary.
Mary E F Lee, ousted as Westerville postmistress by Postmaster General Walter Brown, relinquished office to assistant Lester Whitehead after holding the post since 1922. She plans to write a political book.

Hanks Sterl Hanks 25 of Gary was riding home from a New Year’s dance when his coupe collided with another car. The other driver jumped from his vehicle and shot Hanks through the heart. He was found dead at the wheel by guests later. a wide search for the killer is under way.

Young Jack Convoy, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur J Convoy, drowned under the ice in Lake Glacier Mill Creek Park when a plank gave way. Two companions escaped. his body was recovered after about twenty minutes using grappling hooks.
