Mayor says sympathetic to CAA but cannot fund programs
Mayor Donald Barrett voiced sympathy for the Tri-County Community Action Agency but said Athens city, county and municipal funds cannot cover CAA programs in 1972 revenue sharing. He noted 53 percent of area residents live in CAA territory and that 53 percent funding would total $711,000, beyond the $683,000 county total. He added revenue sharing guidelines prevent unit pooling except in special cases.
