Police captured four Dearborn youths after a high speed 10 mile pursuit ending near Erie and Orange Streets. The stolen car, with three bullet holes, had been used in a Grand Rapids filling station robbery for $56, cigarettes, candy, and a .38 revolver.
In Xenia a funeral service is planned for Dr. Howard Hale Long dean of Central State College Wilberforce at 69 in Washington DC. In Toledo coroner rules the death of Quiller Brinson Jr 32 homicide by beating. In Columbus two representatives draft bill to end capital punishment Rep Kurfess and Rep White co sponsors. In Massillon Wooster College sophomore George Bailey 20 Baltimore Md arraigned for armed robbery using a stage prop gun. Bailey active in college drama.
Capt William Myer 34 of Valley View was injured when his Ohio National Guard jet trainer crashed after take off at Mansfield. In Ottawa Mrs Elma Harker 45 died in a two vehicle collision on Ohio 65 six miles south of town. North American Aviation announced a 3 percent wage increase for over 72,000 workers in four states effective March 4, under UAW contracts. The International Electrical Radio and Machine Workers Union plans a nine point program to address automation effects on lamp workers in Cincinnati.
The American Legion of Ohio fights a General Assembly bill to move key holidays to Mondays, calling it a move to divorce patriotic anniversaries from their dates for mercenary aims.
