He claimed the whale hooked its belly on the anchor fluke then surfaced like a snout and nearly dumped the crew before racing away. Boies said they cut the cable with an axe and returned for a new line.
R L Marlow, sanitary inspector, visited Glouster to examine barber shops and survey overall sanitary conditions in the Glouster district as part of the Health Department campaign. He also checked milk production and distribution in the Amesville district and, with James Martin, assessed cleanliness of food handling establishments in Athens.
