Weed Control Cautions From Ohio State Expert
Victor Kering, OSU vegetable gardening specialist, urged avoiding chemical weed killers in home gardens due to crop damage. Keirns outlined four topics, including weed control, soil and fertilizer, and insect and disease control at Mechanicsburg school meeting before about 2710 people. He favored organic soil improvement with manure plus liberal commercial fertilizer and noted DDT and Rotenone as sufficient in many insect cases. The talk was the third in a farm meeting series sponsored by Cam Arnold and others, with sessions planned for March on home pork production and managing the home poultry flock.
