Chauncey Village Council debated an emergency water and sewage rate increase led by former councilman William Abdella. Residents argued the hikes are high with three bills rising 45 25 and 80 percent for similar usage.

Nelsonville mayor's court found Curtis Handa, 18, of Glouster guilty on two charges. He pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and failing to dim lights. Handa was arrested Sunday, fined 200 dollars plus costs, and sentenced to three days in city jail for the drunken driving count and ten dollars plus costs for the second count.
Army S Sgt Jerry W Dixon 28 son of John W Dixon of Glouster Route 1 has been assigned to the U S Army field artillery center and Fort Sill Oklahoma. He entered service in November 1961 and was last at Ft Lewis Washington. His wife Donna resides in Lawton Oklahoma.
