Mr and Mrs George Hottinger escaped as firefighters battled heavy smoke and water damage. downstairs furnishings survived while upstairs rooms and a daughter's clothing were lost. The blaze likely started from a spark. loss partly covered by insurance.

Kenneth Beekman 22 of Hillsboro was sentenced in County Common Pleas Court to two concurrent prison terms for forgery. He pled guilty to two counts including a $250 Merchants National Bank Hillsboro check and a $45 Rockhold Brown & Co Bainbridge check. He had been judged a psychopathic offender and referred for hospital treatment, but due to lack of space, will serve the terms at Ohio Penitentiary.
