Elks Initiation Parade Marks Nelsonville Night
More than 100 Elks attended Nelsonville Lodge 543 Past Exalted Ruler Night with a downtown parade led by a band and five initiates pulling a baby carriage. After a turkey dinner, initiation occurred in lodge rooms with Gerald Priser as exalted ruler and P. R. Baird present exalted ruler, plus officers from the Past Exalted Rulers. Attendees travelled from Logan Athens and New Lexington and five men were named as new initiates.

Nelsonville opens license plate sales today under registrar Frances Steenrod who will operate from her W Washington Street home from 9 a m to 5 p m daily and Saturday. Steenrod temporarily resides in East Liverpool but will stay in Nelsonville until the sale concludes.

Four Attend District Rotary Conference in Zanesville
Nelsonville Rotarians attended the District Conference for southeastern Ohio, with Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Warren and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Albrecht at Sunday sessions, and local president P. R. Baird with Delbert Kuhn at Monday. Baird and Kuhn reported highlights of the Neptune's Movement conference at the regular Rotary meeting. Neptune is 2 793 000 000 miles from the sun, 32 000 miles in diameter, traveling about the sun at 3.4 miles per second.
