Elizabeth and Jane Du Bois the daughters of the US consul general in Naples died when they leapt from a commercial air plane en route to Paris at 1500 feet. Witnesses said they clasped hands in a final embrace as they fell to the ground. Their grief followed the sinking of the British seaplane Ace of Diamonds near Messina on Feb 15.
James Cromwell and his wife Doria Duke left Monte Carlo without visiting the Casino Sporting Club. They toured the area in casual attire, dined and danced at a night club, then planned to depart to Port Said Egypt for a motor trip before touring Europe.

Earl Backus 17 drove the coal truck with a drunk companion and struck King as she walked along State Route 7. Her back was broken and skull fractured. The vehicle fled the scene until later identified by Sheriff E E Hatfield.

National banks in the United States increased assets from 5,150 licensed banks totaling $21,747,483,000 at end of 1934 to 4-A sets of 5,487 banks totaling $25,629,580,000 by December 31, 1924. Alaska and Hawaii are included in the nationwide figures.

Huntington man Ernest Pugh's car stalled near the West Virginia state capitol. Three passersby helped push the vehicle. In a letter to Governor H G Kump he wrote that few ever see the governor's face in their rear view mirror as he lends a hand.
