Athens Arts Center Proposal Sought for Recreation Complex
Peg McDargh presented a plan to create a community arts center at the new E State Street recreation complex. The proposal suggests converting an old airport hanger into a temporary arts venue with rooms for classes and meetings and potential later construction funded by federal grants. The idea drew support from Howard Romine and Athens Mayor Donald Barrett who noted cost and safety issues in bringing the hanger up to standards.
