Gallipolis Wins Tractor Contest In District Meet
In a district wide tractor trouble shooting contest, Gallipolis High School won among thirteen teams including Fort Frye and New Lexington. Judges from Lancaster High School evaluated workmanship, safety, and problem solving as tractors were tested and repaired within 90 minutes.

Wellston City Schools instrumental music program named one of 16 superior statewide programs by a panel of 30 college band directors and music educators. The 16 will be studied against 39 superior bands to evaluate the impact of competition festivals on instrumental music education. The Ohio State University study aims to determine if competitions are educationally necessary. Also notes Bell’s 1918 hydrofoil design reaching 71 mph.

Injury Of Man Is Investigated In Nelsonville
Lawrence Sullivan 59 of Columbus was found with head cuts in an alley near Harper Street. He was intoxicated, transported to Mount St Mary Hospital, then to University Hospital, with police noting heavy breathing and unconsciousness. Evidence at the scene suggested a fall after leaving Jack's Bar and Grill and a prior fight over liquor.
