Youth Enters Guilty Plea In Shooting
Lowell Eugene Oliver 20 of Mc Connellsville Route 3 pleaded guilty to second degree murder for the shooting of Thomas Camden Roach 31 in Morgan County near the Morgan Athens County line. Oliver, a former Stockport Windsor High School basketball standout, was arraigned before Judge Robert Daniels and bound to the grand jury. A special grand jury session is planned in April. Oliver was held in jail after confessing the fatal argument over basketball and racial segregation. Roach died at Marietta Memorial Hospital after being shot twice in Roach's car on Karr's Hill near the Ohio line. Both men had been drinking and met for the first time. Oliver, unemployed, Marine veteran, had been carrying a .22 pistol intending to sell it.
