Traction project taken up by Athens citizens

The Athens Commercial Club hosted a Monday opera house meeting to discuss a proposed 42 mile traction line between Athens and Nelsonville. Attendees heard about past work and future prospects, with local subscriptions totaling about 50,000 dollars and foreign capital hesitating until local funds prove reliable. A gasoline interurban option was favored for lower costs and quicker start, with a 150 mile per day use cited in Gallipolis. A committee was formed to study the proposal and report back to the club.
