Three hundred U S Marines prepared to defend Americans and property in Shanghai amid civil unrest. A refugee boat from Szechuan brought 159 evacuees, including 27 Americans and 78 Canadians, plus 15 missions among 500 total refugees.

Attorneys for Harry Bouklias the alleged bootlegger and Harry Turner serving one to ten years in Ohio penitentiary for perjury announced in Canton that their parole applications will be heard in Columbus on April 5. Others include Hindus Sengalese and East Indians all former seamen who deserted ships and worked in local steel mills. They have been in the United States from three months to four years and face deportation after a year long probe.
John E. Benedetto an 18 year old boxer was charged with manslaughter after Leo Porta also 18 from McKees Rocks Pa died ten hours after being knocked out in a boxing bout here last night authorities said Benedetto was held today in connection with the case and Porta died this morning in New Philadelphia.
