Ninety inmates from the Federal Reformatory at Chillicothe including two Glouster men Roy Garner and Virgil Lonberger were indicted for mutiny after a Sept. 8 riot that left one prisoner shot and others beaten. The grand jury also charged 13 with conspiracy and four with assault, and recommended reforms in supervision borrowing and the honor system.
In Salem Oregon the short revolt at the state prison ended with five hostages freed. Warden Virgil J O Malley said no prison property was damaged. The uprising began as guards served meals and ended after guards were released.
Senator Barrett says forged papers alleged to implicate Vice President Nixon in 1968 campaign were studied by the Justice Department. He asked the FBI to investigate for possible criminal action, noting a $50,000 oil interest connection and predicting prosecution for perjury.
Fred William Ramsy, 72, of Cleveland, received the Russell Colgate Award for outstanding achievement in Christian education. A retired manufacturer, he often traveled 1200 miles over weekends to teach his men's Bible class, sometimes staying in New York or Washington for government or church duties.

President Eisenhower invited 25 American Farm Bureau Federation officials to the White House to ease tensions over agricultural policy. Allan Kline led leaders who opposed the Brannan Plan, which they feared would place farmers under heavy government control. The visit aimed to repair ties and hear farm legislation proposals.
Pittsburgh dispatch notes that United Steelworkers members across the U S and Canada gather to elect David J. McDonald president after Philip Murray’s death. McDonald runs unopposed for four years starting June 1, with James G. An east wind gusting through Wa satch Mountains toppled freight cars and trailers, causing wide damage in North Utah. No injuries reported, though an Idaho couple were hurt when a trailer detached and struck their car. Thirteen empty cars derailed near Kaysville between Salt Lake City and Ogden as winds topped 70 mph at Hill Air Force Base and rose near canyon mouths.

A North Korean prisoner of war was found dead on Koje Island Saturday. He was apparently murdered by fellow captives, with authorities investigating the incident.
A New York judge barred the press and public from hearing prosecution evidence in the Jelke society vice trial. General Sessions Judge Francis L. Valente cited public decency and said openness would serve no constructive purpose and could harm youth.
About 200 independent truckers stopped hauling coal to the Poston power plant in a protest over low wages and road load limits.
