Gallipolis mortician Claude Miller, 30, seeks fame with daredevil stunts between recoveries from injuries. He flies planes, races cars and motorcycles, and twice dives off the Eureka Dam into the Ohio River, a 57 foot plunge not yet matched. He is married, an embalmer, and a chalk talk artist.
Sylvester Warner, 28, was electrocuted in Kentucky after nearly five years on death row for the murders of two elderly men. Originally condemned in 1933, Gov. Chandler ordered a stay, then an inquiry and court review, which affirmed the death sentence before the execution went forward.
In the mid Atlantic three ships and the Scanmail pressed on with a hopeless search for the Maria De Larrinaga and her 37 crew after wreckage was found across a three mile area. The Scanmail radioed that no lifeboats or the freighter were located and that visibility hindered any chance of success. The vessel will continue its voyage.
The Third District Court of Appeals upheld the murder conviction of Harvey L. Roush age 49 for the killing of farm landlord Homer T. Myers last April 30. Roush faces execution in the electric chair March 15 unless a stay is granted on appeal to the state supreme court.

Sherwood also announced 25 parole violators moved from London Prison Farm to the penitentiary plus 23 transferred after escape attempts last week.
A federal jury in Albuquerque was to render a verdict today in the trial of 25 defendants charged with using the Works Progress Administration for political purposes.
West Virginia Legislature pledges retaliation if Ohio passes a bill to bar tax funded bodies from buying non-Ohio coal. WV House approved a similar bill and sent it to the Senate. Ohio bills would bar tax supported institutions from non-Ohio coal unless prices are 20 percent lower or equipment limits usage. House Mines Committee backed the measure pending AG opinion. No Senate action yet.
Premier Juan Negrin left by air to Valencia to consult central authorities on continuing the Civil War or surrender negotiations with the Nationalists. Negrin’s move followed the fall of Catalonia as Loyalist troops crossed the frontier and blew munitions dumps at Puigcerda. The British cruiser Devonshire carried a Nationalist envoy to Minorca and landed 450 Loyalist refugees at Marseilles.
Captain Muirhead Goule of the British cruiser Devonshire accused Spanish Nationalists of breaking a pledge by bombing Minorca. The attack forced the Devonshire to maneuver for safety as it defended 450 refugees during surrender talks, amid Britain and France backing the island transfer to avoid Italian naval dominance.
A daughter weighing seven pounds six ounces and a son weighing seven pounds two ounces were born today in University Hospital Columbus to two couples both named William Smith. The births occurred within thirty five minutes of each other.

Among those given conditional releases is Theodore Washington of Gallia County, convicted of larceny, with release to Gallia County authorities on or after February 15 and potential continuation until March 1939.
