Mrs. Mary Harrington, a victim of the anthracite strike in Mahony City Pennsylvania, died from starvation after her husband left during the strike. Police say she refused to beg and kept giving any food she found to her children before starving. She was found by nurse Mary Emroch and died at Fountain Springs hospital in Ashland.
The Ohio utilities commission disapproved a second higher rate schedule filed by Logan Gas Company, aiding about forty four municipalities. The Civil Service Commission certified John A. Shain Carl A. Schaefer and Mrs Florence R. Smith as eligibles for appointment as postmaster at Pomeroy Ohio. The action was announced in Washington on February 9.
