Gallipolis Plans Riverfront Park Access with State Help
City commissioners agreed to join state funds for a riverfront park front project including a 60 by 300 foot parking area and a 26 foot wide launching ramp extending into the river. The Division of Watercraft would pay two thirds of the 38 000 to 45 000 dollar estimate with the city covering one third. An ordinance will be prepared and a Friday night vote set. Local leaders expect the facility to attract out of town boaters and boost regional business, potentially drawing central Ohio boaters from Lake Erie in five to ten years.
