The Keysort Card That Carried a Soldier’s Life
A thin pale yellow Keysort card began in Athens on February 9, 1941, traveled from Georgia to California, the Solomons and Guadalcanal, ending with a fatal line “Killed in Action on Guadalcanal, November 22, 1942.” The card’s journey mirrored a soldier’s course through training, campaigns, and final sacrifice, returning home for a brief visit before archival custody.
