The St Luke s Episcopal Church congregation in Niles Ohio voted to absolve Reverend Harry Woodward of blame in divorce proceedings started by himself and wife. A cross petition from his wife Vivian accuses Mrs Mary Dewey of alienating affections and seeks 50000 damages. Woodward named Edward Davis as a correspondent. Church leaders will meet with Bishop Rogers to press that Woodward remain as rector. Woodward was absent from Sunday service but attended a class.
Mr and Mrs J W Bodley of Albany Road were injured Saturday night when their car struck a culvert on Route 5 at Fisher Station. A blinding light from another vehicle hindered Mr Bodley while turning a curve. They received first aid and were taken to Sheltering Arms Hospital. Mrs Bodley suffered a severe shoulder injury possibly a fracture, while Mr Bodley had facial bruises and knocked out lower teeth. He was released today. she remains hospitalized to assess injuries. Rodley is an auditor for the McBee Company in Athens.
In Murray City on Saturday four year old Betty Jane Donson was fatally injured when struck by a coal truck on Hack Street while running toward her home. Kenneth Shuttleworth, driver of the truck, says the girl darted into the vehicle and he was traveling slowly. The child died Saturday night at Cherrington Hospital Logan. She leaves a twin sister Barbara Jean an older sister Mary Louise a brother Fred and parents Mr and Mrs Edward Donson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at St Phillip Neri Church with burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.
Athens County school teachers have received little pay for the term and are expected to be paid in full up to January 1 within the coming month. County superintendent Kenneth C. Ray says boards may borrow funds on notes repaid by the state, bringing about 120000 to the county by mid January to cover pay. The new state tax plan allocates 51.60 per pupil per year, totaling around 200000 annually for the county schools, though real estate tax cuts mean about 100000 extra annually from the state equalization fund is still needed.

Elsa Sittell, 31, a New York native and naturalized American, faced potential banishment after a Dec 23 incident at Waldmohr.
