Pittsburgh manager for the Chicago Aeronautical Service Company confirmed a factory may be built near Athens and Mineral Ohio. He refused to disclose details until company president R L Kennedy returns to Pittsburgh after several days of planning in Athens and Mineral.
Saint Simons Island Georgia December 31 President Coolidge has for more than 12 hours been cut off from outside contact with reporters and aides. He and his party were reportedly hunting wild turkeys at Floyds Neck about fifty miles from St Simons Island on a sixty thousand acre Coffin estate reservation. Details remain unclear as Alfred Jones conveyed vague tips of the expedition.
Joseph Weed of Haydenville pleaded guilty to a non support charge in Athens County Probate Court. He was ordered to pay 2.50 toward the support of an illegitimate child until further order. Weed was arrested on an affidavit by Beatrice Gethers of Nelsonville alleging he is the father.
Joseph Garland, 74, a Minersville resident, died at his home in Pomeroy today at 7 AM from pneumonia that followed influenza. He belonged to the Minersville Methodist Church and the Pomeroy Odd Fellows Lodge. Survived by daughters Ethel, a Pomeroy High School teacher, and Clara of the home. funeral plans not announced.
In Riverside California Mrs. Sarah Louise Northcot, 31, pleaded guilty in superior court to the murder of nine year old Walter. The case involves a serious accusation with the defendant admitting responsibility. The court will determine sentencing following the plea.
In Columbus a 19 month old boy, Donald Hettich of Corning, suffers a peanut lodged in a lung. Doctors at Grant Hospital planned an operation after Corning physicians failed to remove the nut. The child also has pneumonia and influenza complicating the case.
Paris reports Premier Raymond Poincare told a special cabinet session he viewed his task as complete after parliament approved the budget and proposed handing his resignation to President Gaston Doumergue. Ministers urged he remain to handle pressing international and domestic issues.
Columbus December 31 The 88th General Assembly and Governor-Elect Myers Y Cooper may scrap a large portion of the Davis reorganization code as they consider sweeping economy in government reforms. The joint committee on economy in government services issued major recommendations creating expectations of wide changes. Veteran ropers say few if any will be adopted.
President E C Mahan of the National Coal Association reports 1928 output about 27 million tons below 1927 as stocks offset demand. Strike ended, exports encouraged, and new markets pursued with liquefaction tech, shipping contracts, and a proposed code to curb unfair practices.

United Press survey shows five deaths in Greater Dayton including a Miamisburg grade crossing crash that killed Mrs Norah Burkett 45 Charles McCoy 60 and a Mrs Wade. Two more deaths occurred in Cincinnati and one in Circleville as trains and cars collided and vehicles struck poles.
Mrs. Alvin T. Hert of Kentucky, vice chairman of the Republican National Committee, is recommended by Kentucky Republicans for the cabinet post of secretary of interior. The proposal, led by Governor Sampson, was delivered to Hoover advisors. reaction from the President-Elect was not disclosed. Mrs. Hert led the women’s end of the presidential campaign.

Harry Franklin Gilham 11 son of Mr and Mrs R C Gilham of New Marshfield died at 4 o clock Sunday evening at Sheltering Arms Hospital Athens after an appendix operation three weeks earlier. Funeral at 10:30 Wednesday at Christian Church Athens by Rev M E Chatley. Burial in New Marshfield Cemetery. Survived by parents four brothers John Paul James Neal and sister Mary Catherine all at home.
Miss Laura May Keiler single handedly captured fugitive Charles Shepherd, wanted for murder of a prison guard and abduction of the guard’s 18 year old daughter. He was turned over to national guards and being transported to Jackson, Mississippi.
Funeral services for G. A. Cornwell, who died Saturday afternoon, will be held at 3 o clock Tuesday afternoon at the home instead of this afternoon as previously announced.
Police believe four year old Melvin Horst was abducted by enemies of his uncle Orrville Marshal Roy Horst. A search drew a large local showing and a reward of 1500 dollars for Melvin’s return alive. Witnesses reported seeing a boy with a man and woman near Columbus and a car scene investigated by investigators.
