Veterans Must Be Cared for Well in Meigs County

The attorney general ruled that the Soldiers' Commission relief appropriation of 5000 dollars must be funded from the General Fund within the county's 15 mill property tax limit. County commissioners need only allocate the amount in the budget for the veterans board on demand. Last year relief totaled 1500 dollars, with higher demands linked to World War effects and unemployment. The local commission, appointed by the common pleas court, finalizes each case after full investigation to prevent misuse.
