Loyal Bereans Chose New Officers For 68
Loyal Bereans Class of the Middleport Church of Christ elected new officers at the December meeting held at the church. Officers chosen were Mrs. James Hawley president, Mrs. Lene McKinley vice president, George Meinhart second vice president, Mrs. Meinhart secretary, Mrs. George Childs treasurer, Mrs. Claude Ashley Sunday School secretary, and Mrs. Otho Karr assistant Sunday School secretary. The gathering opened with prayer by Rev. Raullin Moyer and carols. The program featured Betsy Cunningham piano, a musical reading, two guitar and vocal pieces by L. R. Wiley, a Christmas story by Barbara Moyer, and a piano number by Martha McNeal. Refreshments were served by Regina Hudson, McKinley, and Betty Cline.

The State Highway Patrol investigated an afternoon crash on Route 7 involving a car driven by Helen R. Friedman 44 of Gallia and Shirley Mulford 67 of Cheshire. Passengers in Friedmans car Florence Canaday 64 of Gallipolis and Irene Friedman 65 of Columbus were reported with minor injuries and to be treated later. Mulford was arrested for improper turning.

Heath Church in Middleport held a Christmas program with school classes leading readings and carols during the morning worship. The altar featured poinsettias donated by Homer Cook, the choir conducted by Beulah White performed a Christmas anthem, and a family pageant scene included the Hoffman and Owen families.
