Campaign Push To End Fox Bounty Payments Gains Momentum

A Dayton teen discovery spurs a statewide drive to abolish fox bounties, already ending a $3 bounty in Montgomery County. Officials in smaller counties favor bounties for crop and livestock protection, while Dayton historian E J Keestner argues they waste money. Keestner and student Tom Huels will survey all 88 counties to frame a 1967 legislative push to end fox bounties. Delaware and Pickaway counties defend the program as aiding farmers, noting thousands in payouts and rapid fox reduction.
