Increase Reported In Feeder Calf Sales In West Virginia
West Virginia feeder calf sales show 13 218 calves marketed in 1962 with a total value of 1 478 489 30 dollars. Joe Emch notes this is a 1 831 calf rise from last year, the highest annual total in 32 years of the program. Average prices rise to 29.47 per cwt for steers and 24.05 for heifers. The 423 lb steers and 399 lb heifers average weights are reported with 26.8 and 51 percent grading fancy to good respectively. The demonstrations are run by West Virginia University Cooperative Extension and the State Department of Agriculture.

Harold Bright 82 Dies in Point Pleasant Hospital
Harold E. Dick Bright 82 of Point Pleasant Route 2 died Monday at Pleasant Valley Hospital. A Spanish American War veteran and retired Kanawha and Michigan Railroad employee, he belonged to Brighton Methodist Church and several local groups. Survived by wife Georgia A. Bright, four children, two brothers, one sister, 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Burial at Brighton Cemetery after Thursday funeral at 11 a.m. at Brighton Methodist Church. friends may call Crow Funeral Home.

Ordinances Passed in Hartford Council Meeting
Hartford officials adopted a new code of ordinances and received communications from the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and the Farmer's Loan Association. The mayor said engineers will meet with the council on the proposed town water system, and four street lights will be installed. Licenses for two stores were issued to George Stewart and Albert and Johnny Oldaker for ten dollars each for the remainder of the fiscal year. Two arrests were reported during Christmas: Robert William Parman cited for driving intoxicated and Billy Gaines Cox charged with public drunkenness in Dade City Florida.
