DeVeau Named To Athens Civil Service Commission
Ronald E. DeVeau a 27 year old Athens attorney will be appointed to the Athens Civil Service Commission by Mayor-elect Donald Barrett. DeVeau is a Democrat from Lavelle and Vanity law firm and will replace Ira Burnfield whose term ends January. Barrett may fill another commission seat soon. Grogan may resign as police promotion tests loom with retirement age near for Chief Fred James. Buck and DeVeau are Democrats on the six year panel. Grogan sits as independent. DeVeau an Athens native son of Burton and Mrs DeVeau. Lehigh and Duke educated. taught at Ohio University 1969 to 1971.
