Floods Bring Misery on the West Coast

Flooding across California Washington Oregon Nevada and Idaho leaves thousands homeless on Christmas Eve with 28 dead and 5000 more displaced. Weather forecasters warn of more rain and strong winds as the disaster grows. Air Force urged to merge reserve and guard

The Air Force is told to deliver a merger recommendation for the Air Reserve and the Air National Guard by January 25, six days before Gen. Curtis LeMay retires as chief of staff. LeMay backs uniting the 72 000 guard with the 182 000 reserve. Carlton S. Dargusch, Columbus lawyer and Ohio State trustee, will not be suspended until the Supreme Court rules after an indefinite suspension for misconduct at Sunday Creek Coal Co.
