California prosecutors moved quickly after the Los Angeles grand jury indicted Edward Hickman for kidnapping and murdering Marian Darker. D.A. Asa Keyes and police officials left for Sacramento to obtain extradition papers as authorities weigh plans amid grave public danger.

Three people suffer minor injuries after an automobile dropped fifteen feet from a bridge near a creek at Jer seyville close to the Williams farm. Mrs Gordon and Miss Shay report being crowded off by four men in an Issex car and say the vehicle did not stop. Police traced the license to Muskingum County and searched Belpre for the four suspects as the accident case unfolds. Miss Shay, a Buchtel teacher, was en route home to Pomeroy.

Children at the Athens County Children's Home enjoyed an annual Christmas program with Santa Claus, candy, apples, and popcorn balls. About sixty guests attended as the home’s 70 plus boys and girls received gifts from the Y.M.C.A and Y.W.C.A Ohio University and local churches. The five year old Junior pleaded for Santa to stay, promising Santa would return Friday night.
Detroit announced by President W Knudsen that a new Chevrolet model will go on sale January 1 1928. Production is being rushed with more than 5000 papers and an equal number of dealers set to publish specifications on New Year’s Day.
A normal supply of turkeys was available in Columbus as of December 23. Retail prices ranged from 53 to 60 cents per pound while wholesale was 40 to 45 cents. Dressed chickens sold for 86 to 40 cents and wholesale poultry at 25 to 30 cents.
Mrs Emma Mallernee aged about died in Nashville Tennessee after a nine week illness from a fractured hip sustained in a fall. Born at Guysville she later lived in Athens and married Captain John L Mallernee. Survived by son Don L Mallernee two daughters Mrs Kitty Jewett and Mrs Louis Davis and sisters Mrs Boy Block Athens and Mrs Kat Dean Logan.
State Highway Director Schlesinger announced the decision to spare two elim trees at the center of U S Route 23 south of South Bloomfield. The move follows adverse sentiment after plans to remove the trees for a mine mile stretch between Columbus and Circleville.

Howard Hickman was indicted on kidnapping and murder charges by a hastily convened grand jury in Pendleton Oregon. Police assignments moved to Sacramento after the indictments were returned.
Rewards totaling over 50000 dollars and possibly up to 160000 were offered for the arrest of Edward Hickman dead or alive. Funds were raised by popular subscription and planned to be split into three equal shares for George Willoughby of Seattle and the two Oregon officers who made the arrest.
News of Hickman’s arrest and confession ends a massive manhunt for the 12 year old Marian Parker case. Detective Chief Herman Cline led 6000 officers in the search as Pendleton extradition papers moved toward official action. Anticipation and relief spread through Los Angeles and the Pacific coast.
