Tom Jenkins dies at 79 creator of Ohio political tradition
Tom Jenkins of Ironton, longtime representative of Ohio's 10th Congressional District, died at 79 in a Worthington sanitarium after a long illness. A native of Oak Hill, he served 34 years in Congress, was elected 17 consecutive times, and sponsored the 1948 flood control bill that funded Ironton's flood wall. He is survived by his wife Mabel and sister Margaret. Services at First Methodist Church in Ironton.
