Readers' Review: Laughter on the American Frontier
W G Rogers evaluates Mody C Boatright's frontier humor noting many jokes rely on exaggeration and slapstick. He finds the book blunt, vivid with local color, and largely unfunny though some tall tales and satire hold interest. He concludes frontier humor may not strike universal laughter yet remains an authentic cultural snapshot.
