Nine Killed In O Hare Runway Collision

At O Hare Airport two airliners collided in fog killing nine people. North Central Airlines DC9 had 45 aboard and Delta Convair 880 carried 86 passengers plus seven crew. The crash halted operations. 13 North Central passengers were hospitalized and 19 others were uninjured.

Crash man and son crawl from burning jet

Gregory said he grabbed the 13 year old’s hand and crawled from the plane as smoke filled the cabin. They reached the front, kept low for air, then ran as the jet burst into flames. FAA and NTSB sent teams to investigate.

Nixon Threatens To Cut Off Military Aid To South Vietnam

Nixon warned Thieu he would cut all military and economic aid if Thieu rejects the peace terms Washington expects Hanoi to accept. He urged Thieu to join in signing a forthcoming agreement while Kissinger called a settlement nearly complete. Slaying Spree Victims In Cleveland Drug House Hit

A 33 year old East Side man is held for questioning in a house slaying that left four dead and three wounded amid alleged drug activity. Police seized two guns and 3000 dollars during a raid on his home. Victims include David Young Jr. 31 and his son Raymond 15, Connie Gregory 23, Charles Ross 29, and injured David Young Sr. 66 his wife Eliza 68 and granddaughter Wanda Byrd 4. Police suspect a narcotics dispute but have not determined its nature.

Communists Walk Out of Vietnam Peace Talks Over Bombing

Communists from Hanoi and the Viet Cong walk out of the Vietnam peace talks in Paris to protest U S bombing of North Vietnam. Nguyen Minh Vy and Dinh Ba Thi read statements denouncing Nixon escalation and left before replies could be given.
