Premier Stephanos Stephanopoulos resigned, as Greece faces possible early elections after the National Radical Union withdrew support. The coalition government had formed in September 1965 following Greece's worst political crisis since 1947-49.
Three members of Laskey's family were subpoenaed to testify before the Hamilton County Grand Jury as Laskey, 29, is indicted for first degree murder in the stabbing of Barbara Bowman, 31, amid a string of six stranglings since December 1965. Bowman died August 14.
Ohio State University extension economists predict that most Ohio farmers will have about the same net incomes in the coming year as in 1966, assuming no crop failures. They forecast higher production costs and a national net income decline of about 5 percent for U.S. farmers.

Two U S F4B Phantom jets fired air to air missiles at two planes approaching the U S cruiser Long Beach. The enemy craft vanished from radar and the spokesman could not confirm whether they were shot down. The encounter occurred in the early morning darkness near Saigon.
The Long Beach, 25 miles northeast of Thanh Hoa, faced two Phantoms launched by the Kitty Hawk. The jets fired missiles as enemy planes, described as slow moving, vanished from radar. U S bombers pounded north of the DMZ while Marines repelled a Viet Cong attack, with 54 killed and four captured.
Ohio faces a dangerous holiday season as 1966 reaches at least 2,466 highway deaths, the second highest total since records began in 1936. October set a record with 290 deaths, and the Labor Day Turnpike crash added nine fatalities.

A Navy surgeon at Da Nang hospital removed a live M79 grenade from a 20 year old Marine's throat after it had pierced jawbone and tongue. The patient’s name was withheld pending relatives’ notification.
In Indianapolis police followed a burglary suspect to a home where four men fell through the ceiling and into officers from a dog squad. They were taken into custody on preliminary burglary charges.
The government will hand over to Bobby Bakers attorneys a secret recording central to the prosecution. Judge Oliver Gasch ruled Baker is entitled to government recordings or statements. Baker faces trial January 9 on tax evasion theft and conspiracy charges.

A $215,000 federal grant request to help farmers in seven Ohio Appalachian counties was filed with the Appalachian Regional Commission. The Ohio Office of Appalachia cited land stabilization conservation and erosion control services for Adams Highland Hocking Jackson Pike Ross and Vinton counties with specific allocations listed.
