Viet Cong Attack Marks Saigon Anniversary Calm

On the fifth anniversary of the National Liberation Front the Viet Cong paused terrorism in Saigon by day but opened with a grenade attack on a U.S. convoy at night injuring two Americans and several Vietnamese. Heavy fighting followed near Tuyen Nhon Camp and in the Plain of Reeds as government forces repelled Viet Cong units. US air raids resumed on North Vietnam with F105s striking the Bac Can highway bridge and adjacent targets. A pair of accidents killed a U.S. Army observer and a South Vietnamese crew in separate incidents.
