Prime Minister John Gorton said about 7,500 Australian troops in Vietnam will be reduced as the United States trims its force by 50,000. The pullout will occur in consultation with the South Vietnamese government and coincide with the U.S. reduction.
A nine men and three women jury began deliberations in the gambling conspiracy trial of five Columbus policemen and reputed numbers figure Frank Baldasarro. Judge Joseph Kinneary charged the jury Monday evening as they were sequestered overnight in a Columbus hotel.
